Introduction
What ViraStack AI does, why it exists and the one command that installs it.
ViraStack AI (@virastack/ai) writes architecture rules for AI coding agents into a Next.js or TanStack Start project. The rules describe where code lives, which libraries to use and how, so agents write code that matches the rest of the project.
What it does
- Writes 14 rules in each tool’s native format:
.claude/rules/virastack/for Claude Code and.cursor/rules/virastack/for Cursor. - Adds a managed block to
AGENTS.mdwith the project’s commands and a map of every rule, so Codex, Copilot and other agents find them too. - Detects Next.js or TanStack Start from
package.jsonand installs only that framework’s rules. Thei18nrule is added only whennext-intlor Paraglide is installed. - Records every installed file in
.virastack/ai.json, so updates replace only rules you did not change.
Why ViraStack AI?
- One standard, every tool: a team using Claude Code and Cursor side by side gets the same rules in both.
- Written for the current stack: Next.js 16, React 19.2, TanStack Start, TanStack Query 5, Zustand 5, Zod 4 and Tailwind CSS 4. Every example follows its own rules.
- Never overwrites your files: rules live in their own
virastack/folders.AGENTS.mdandCLAUDE.mdonly get a small managed block or import line.
One command
Run it in the project root:
$ pnpm dlx @virastack/ai initStarting a new project? ViraStack Start scaffolds Next.js or TanStack Start with these rules already installed.
Next steps
- Installation: requirements, choosing AI tools and updating.
- Rule catalog: what each rule covers and when it loads.
- Upgrade to v2: moving a v1 project to the new layout.
