Supported tools
Which tools load the rules natively, which read them from AGENTS.md, and the two that need one setting.
AI coding tools
Claude Code and Cursor load the rules from their own folders. Every other tool reads the managed AGENTS.md block, which lists each rule with its file path and when to read it.
| Tool | Native rules | From the AGENTS.md map |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Code | Supported.claude/rules/virastack/ | Supported |
| Cursor | Supported.cursor/rules/virastack/ | Supported |

Native rules load automatically when the agent touches matching files. Tools without native rules read the “Always” rules at the start of a task and the matching rule before editing, as the map tells them.
Gemini CLI
Gemini CLI reads GEMINI.md by default. Add AGENTS.md in .gemini/settings.json:
{ "context": { "fileName": ["AGENTS.md", "GEMINI.md"] } }Aider
Aider reads extra files listed in .aider.conf.yml:
read: AGENTS.mdFrameworks
- Next.js 16 with the App Router. i18n with
